Principle
When the excitation light of frequency v is incident on the medium, in addition to being absorbed, reflected and transmitted by the medium, a part of the light is always scattered. When the photons of the excitation light interact with the molecules as the scattering center, there are a small amount of photons that not only change the propagation direction of the light, but also change the frequency ofthe light wave. This kind of scattering is called raman scattering. The frequency difference v between the scattered light and the incident light is called the raman shift. The raman shift has nothing to do with the frequency of the incident light. It is only related to the structure of the scattering molecule itself, depending on the change of molecular vibrational energy level, different chemical bonds or groups. There are characteristic molecular vibrations, so the corresponding Raman shift is also characteristic. This is an important basis for raman spectroscopy to be used as a qualitative analysis of molecular structure.
Overview
In this experiment, a multi-mode narrow linewidth laser emits laser light, focuses on the sample through a Raman probe, and the raman signal generated by the interaction with the sample is collected by the probe and transmitted to the fiber spectrometer to obtain the finalraman spectrum of the sample.
