The absorbance spectrum can be used as a qualitative tool to identify or as a quantitative tool to measure the concentration of a molecule in solution. Today absorbance measurement remains the most widely used spectroscopic technique for studying liquids and gases due to its simplicity, accuracy, and ease of use.
While testing, the cuvette, the flow cell, the immersion probe, the micro cell, etc. all can be used as sampling devices.
Typical system based on cuvette
• Simplicity, accuracy, quick testing
• Real-time absorbance values reading, data can be re-used
Typical system based on immersion probe
• The immersion probe can be immersed in the liquid sample, and the other two ends can be connected with spectrometer and light source.
• Apply to the solution on-line analysis, avoiding secondary pollution.
Application: Solution concentration measuring
Working principle:The relationship between the absorbance and concentration of the solution is known as the Lambert-beer law. Brolight spectrometers can be used to measure unknown concentrations of a solution sample by measuring a set of standard concentrations.
Compared with the traditional experiment, Brolight spectrometer create a flexible system to measure a wide range of solutions and concentrations, in which makes a variety of experimental applications possible now and future.
